Four drabbles written for the games on
bsg_epics today :)
The Last Bullet (Kara/Lee, PG-13) for
rirenec
“How are you for ammo?” Lee whispers, peeking around the corner.
Kara checks. “Last bullet.”
“What?” he turns sharply. “What were you going to shoot?”
She shrugs, grins. “I’m Starbuck. They just have to see me holding a gun and they’ll run.”
And as preposterous as she’s being, it’s been too long since he saw her smile. For just a moment Lee sets down his gun and takes Kara’s face in his hands, kisses her hard.
There’s the faintest noise behind him and Kara raises her arm, fires. Lee hears a body falling.
Kara smirks. “Best shot in the fleet.”
Trust (Kara & Caprica, PG) for
sci_fi_shipper
Kara splashes water on her face, then straightens with a sigh. As she glances at the mirror, the sight of a Cylon behind her shocks Kara into motion. She whirls, fists clenched.
Caprica looks at her nervously, wrapping one arm across her pregnant belly.
“This is for officers,” Kara snaps, heart racing.
“The civilian head was crowded. I didn’t mean to startle you.”
Kara nods warily, keeps the Cylon in sight as she crosses to the stalls and then emerges to wash her hands.
“Eventually you’ll have to trust us,” Caprica murmurs.
Kara shakes her head. “I don’t trust anyone.”
Nine Lives (Kara/Lee, PG-13) for
astreamofstars
Kara tilts her head back as she takes a long swig of ambrosia.
“Maybe you’re a cat,” Lee slurs.
She giggles, then flat out laughs. “You’re drunk.” They’ve finally cried themselves out about Dee, about her body, and her laughter has an hysterical edge.
“No,” Lee says earnestly. “You’ve come back so many times. On that moon, from the farm--and you know what they say about cats.”
Kara waits. “Meow?” she finally offers, cracking herself up.
Lee rests his head against her shoulder. “Nine lives,” he says, taking the bottle.
“Ahh!”
He closes his eyes. “Just don’t run out, okay?”
Bones (Caprica/Gaius, R) for
sunshine_queen
She reaches for Gaius’ hand as they slide out of the limo, but he pulls away.
“It’s just a box of bones,” he snaps. “It’s all for show.”
She doesn’t answer, just watches his face as his father’s casket is buried, sees grief behind the denial.
Later that afternoon, as he thrusts wildly inside her, she says it for the first time. “I love you, Gaius.” He pretends not to hear her, but she sees his pain ease.
She teases him as he rests afterward, “I love your brain, and your cock, and--”
He pulls her into a kiss as she laughs.
She hears what he can’t say.
